Message from the President

Dear Sister Dames,

By the time you read this, members of our chapter will have gathered on one night, Tuesday, February 10th, in D.C., Virginia, and Maryland for Dames Who Drink and Tweet!, a trifecta of fun and camaraderie. Thanks to Polly Wiedmaier and the RW Restaurant Group for making the evening possible.

Our event at the National Geographic Museum was a sold out success. The tour and talk were very informative. Lunch afterwards at Kellari Taverna was generous and delicious. A big thank you to Joan Bacharach for arranging the tour for us.

Nominations for new members are in. Thank you to everyone who participated. Our next order of business is a call for nominees to fill open positions in our board of directors. In 2016, our chapter will host our Women in Gastronomy symposium in the spring and the annual Les Dames d'Escoffier International conference that autumn. The 2015-16 board will be very active in planning both events. If you are ready to expand your involvement with our chapter and would either like to take a leadership role or believe a one of your sister Dames is well-positioned to make a positive difference in our chapter's operations during this important year, please step up.

Happy Valentine's Day to all!

Warmly,

Drew Faulkner

President

Call for 2015-2016 LDE-DC Board Nominations!

The nomination period is now open for LDE-DC chapter officers and directors for 2015-16. This is your opportunity to nominate Dames who possess leadership qualities to represent our membership and who will work to achieve our chapter's goals in the coming year. You may nominate any chapter member in good standing, or you may nominate yourself.  Please consider who will best serve the organization and submit your nomination(s) by Sunday, March 15, to committee chair Kate Jansen at [email protected].  Please be sure that the Dame you nominate agrees to participate as an active member of the board.

The LDE-DC BOD positions are: president, first vice president (membership), second vice president (education and community outreach), NEW second vice president (development and philanthropy), recording secretary, communications (corresponding) secretary and treasurer. Database and web-savvy individuals are needed for the communications secretary and treasurer positions. In addition, three of five director positions will be open. Shortly, we will send a notice that includes the full descriptions of our board positions, requirements and responsibilities as defined in our chapter bylaws and standing rules.
