FIRST ANNUAL DC CENTRAL KITCHEN CULINARY JOB TRAINING CLASS GRADUATION BRUNCH APRIL 6, 201811/1/2017 In honor of Marianne Ali, our chapter will host an annual brunch for a DC Central Kitchen (DCCK) Culinary Job Training class beginning with graduating class number 111. It will take place on Friday April 6 at 9:30 at the Kitchen, 425 2nd Street NW. Please mark your calendars now and consider bringing a brunch dish that will serve 30 people to the Kitchen that morning by 9:15 before the 9:30 brunch. In addition, take the time to "renew your soul" and attend the 2:00 graduation that day at the Navy Memorial Auditorium at 7th Avenue and Pennsylvania Ave, NW. Contact Cindy Kacher ([email protected]) for more information.
Marianne was 60 years old when she passed away from cancer on August 30 and, for two decades, was DC Central Kitchen's Director of Culinary Job Training and Street Outreach. She leaves behind a legacy of compassion, empowerment, and respect for others that lives on in more than 1500 culinary students, nearly 200 DC Central Kitchen colleagues, and scores of community partners including our own chapter. By hosting an annual brunch for a graduating class, our chapter will honor Marianne and share with students that she is remembered beyond the Kitchen and throughout our professional culinary community. As a part of DC Central Kitchen's Memorial for Marianne on Dec 1 at 2:00 at the Ronald Reagan Building, Cindy Kacher will announce LDE-DC's commitment. All Dames are invited to the memorial. Please join us for a new series of DAMES ONLY professional development workshops. Please sign up using Eventbrite, active links are listed below.
