Our tour will cover what they grow, how they grow, the composting operation, and what special projects they are currently working on. And for those interested, they can get their hands dirty in the soil by staying to volunteer weeding and seeding, among other things. The tour should conclude at 11:00 a.m.
Edmonston farm is the anchor of ECO City Farms many programs. They grow vegetables, raise ducks for eggs and keep bees on the one-acre farm that currently includes five hoop houses. They choose to go beyond organic farming. Their produce is grown without any chemical fertilizers nor do they use any petro-based or non-organic treatments, herbicides, pesticides, or fungicides of any kind. They practice no-till farming and only purchase non-GMO, organic seeds from small seed producers. ECO City Farm's philosophy is that a healthy (alive) soil produces healthy plants that are resilient to pest and disease. This is a free event for all Dames and their guests!
